Summary of the week
More like a daily journal
Sunday - 14 Jan
Today was rather unproductive as I spent most of my time lounging in my room. I realized that the only available table in the living room was occupied by my mom, leaving me with no suitable workspace.
πRating of productiveness: 1/5π
The only notable tasks were binge-watching anime and working on a few paragraphs for the internship blog, which focused on an exhibition featuring artworks from Southeast Asia and Latin America at the National Gallery (link: https://www.nationalgallery.sg/tropical).
On a positive note, I managed to complete the process of opening my IBKR account for paper trading and even funded it with the assistance of my mom.
πRating of happiness: 1.5/5 π
Despite not being entirely restful, I don't feel excessively disturbed considering it was a family day spent with my mom.
Monday - 15 Jan
I woke up at 10 am and commenced my day by managing social media posts for my internship, albeit with some instances of procrastination and distractions. Subsequently, I participated in my weekly meeting with my boss at 3 pm. Following the meeting, I concluded the writing of a blog that remained incomplete from the previous day's work.
πRating of productiveness: 3.5/5π
The day proved to be fulfilling, although I couldn't entirely evade instances of procrastination and distractions.
πRating of happiness: 3/5π
The day was relatively uneventful; I spent it at home, engaged in work.
Tuesday - 16 Jan
I started my day at 10 am and had a light breakfast of oatmeal. Afterward, I went to Changi Airport to collect my medical report, followed by a visit to Tampines Regional Library after lunch at DonDonDonKi. During my commute and breaks at the library, I watched Seasons 1 and 2 of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale. I dedicated some time to internship work and indulged in reading "The Little Book of Prosecco Tips." You can find my summary of the book here: https://www.ooijianhui.com/the-little-book-of-prosecco-tips/.
In the evening, I watched Adam Khoo's UIP Jan 2024 report, taking notes on PowerPoint. His insights and analysis fueled my interest and motivation for stocks investment and trading. Additionally, I worked on logistics related to the printing of the class shirt for 2023 with a talented classmate who specializes in drawing chibi characters.
πRating of productiveness: 4.25/5π
I stepped out of my house today, spending several hours in the library working. Despite occasional distractions, it was a productive day as I managed to engage in personal blogging (distinct from work) and initiated my journey into stocks investment.
πRating of happiness: 4/5π
Indulged in some delightful lunch, including Teriyaki don, Matcha ice cream, and Brown sugar Warabi Mochi π The evening turned out to be quite fulfilling as well.
Wednesday - 17 Jan
Started my day at 11 am, I tackled my internship tasks, monitored my IBKR paper trade, and engaged in Match Madness on Duolingo. As the evening approached, I delved deeper into the stocks analysis through Adam Khoo's UIP report.
πRating of productiveness: 2.5/5π
The day lacked significant events, and I found myself succumbing to procrastination, frequently distracted by YouTube.
πRating of happiness: 2.5/5π
The day was relatively uneventful; I spent it at home, engaged in work.
Thursday - 18 Jan
I woke up at 10 am and decided to adopt the 'Work 1 minute after waking up' tactic promoted by Rian Doris. As I crafted a new blog for my internship, featuring Claude Monet and one of our artists, I managed to finish the task by lunch, which I find quite impressive, though it could have been more effective if I hadn't opened the YouTube tab. After that, I headed to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to complete my Permanent Resident formalities. I chose Bedok Library for its quiet and focused environment to continue working. After organizing my internship's work and updating my personal website, I bought dinner and went home. I set my goals for 2024 and watched 1 deep dive stock on Adam Khoo's UIP.
πRating of productiveness: 5/5π
To my surprise, this turned out to be my most productive day of the week. Although I did watch some anime and YouTube videos, I didn't feel the guilt of procrastination. Mostly, it's because I've been researching how to improve my personal website and setting my goals.
πRating of happiness: 4.2/5π
I was pleased with my productivity and enjoyed a nice dinner.
Friday - 19 Jan
I commenced my day at 8:45 am to attend an in-person meeting for my internship, where I met with my supervisor and participated in the ART SG 2024 exhibition. The gallery's expansive display featured a diverse collection of paintings and attracted a substantial crowd. Artists hailing from various locations such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, London, Bangkok, Beijing, Taipei, and more were prominently showcased, providing a comprehensive exposure to the world of art.
During the visit, I had the opportunity to attend a talk titled 'How Do We Demonstrate Care For The Next Generation Of Makers?'. The session delved into memorable stories, highlighting challenges faced by artists, including difficulties in creating art due to the inaccessibility of art mediums. Additionally, it shed light on the East-West disparity observed during the pandemic, with Western artists experiencing lockdowns, while some in the East focused on growing food due to a shortage resulting from a shift in labor from clothes production.
The insights gained from the session were invaluable. Following the exhibition, I took a break for a haircut and returned home, feeling notably fatigued, eventually deciding to rest and concluding the day with some much-needed sleep.
πRating of productiveness: 2.8/5π
My day revolved around exploring the exhibition, and I didn't engage in any substantial work-related activities.
πRating of happiness: 2.7/5π
The experience was notably exhausting, primarily due to the weight of my bag, which contained a laptop and 1.5-liter water bottles. Interestingly, despite carrying the water, I found myself not consuming much of it throughout the day.
The lesson learned from this experience is to avoid bringing a laptop and large bottles to sizable art exhibitions in the future.
Saturday - 20 Jan
I naturally woke up at 9 am and commenced my day by watching AK's UIP November report, followed by a deep dive into Airbnb stock. Subsequently, I began the video creation process for ART SG 2024. While enjoyable, it posed a slight challenge in finding an introduction that didn't echo the previous video style. Later, I proceeded to my part-time F&B job at 1-Atico. Undoubtedly, it was a tiring day, and unfortunately, tomorrow is expected to be even more challenging. βΉοΈ
πRating of productiveness: 2.8/5π
I adhered to the work schedule I had established the previous night, but I succumbed to distractions from Genshin videos. A post-lunch nap ensued, diminishing my overall sense of productivity. Nevertheless, the day achieved a semblance of balance with both work and procrastination, given my commitment to the work shift.
πRating of happiness: 3/5π
Despite the physical fatigue induced by prolonged standing, I would rate the day a 3, buoyed mainly by the delightful experience of indulging in a delicious fruit tart for dessert :)
