March 2024 Quarter Review
In this blog post, I'll be diving into a review and analysis of the goals I set back in January. We'll take a close look at whether they're still on track and worth pursuing. Furthermore, I'll be crafting a fresh set of goals to steer my journey forward.
Summary
Review and Analysis
What had I accomplished so far
Goal 1: Able to perform 20 new cardistry combo or difficult tricks, and document them
- Practice 1 new cardistry combo every 2 weeks
- Record my progress every day
- Find 2 other simpler tricks to practice when bored
While I did manage to pick up a few new tricks, I must admit my practice sessions didn't quite match the planned frequency. Keeping track of progress slipped through the cracks, leaving me feeling a bit disorganized. It didn't help that I often forgot the names of the tricks I learned, making it a challenge to revisit them for review on platforms like YouTube. As a result, I can't even recall the total number of tricks I've mastered.
Goal 2: Can understand the anime Horimiya without looking at the subtitles
- Daily Duolingo
- Create a vocabulary list from the subtitles of each episode
- Study on the grammar and sentence structure from the subtitles
Unfortunately, this endeavor didn't go as planned. My ambition to learn Japanese through anime turned out to be more challenging than anticipated. I barely made it through the first episode, realizing that my approach needed a major adjustment.
Goal 3: One deep dive blog for any Anime every month
- Find 4 animes I like for the season
- Document a summary and edit out the favourite clips for each episode
- Compile them together into a blog
- Make sure I finish writing one blog at the end of every month
This goal didn't quite unfold smoothly. I found myself frequently procrastinating on editing the video clips and, truth be told, I didn't indulge in as many anime series as anticipated. Nonetheless, the strategy remains viable; I simply need to better manage my time to accommodate this activity.
Goal 4: Have 200 trades completed this year on paper trading
- Finish Adam Khoo's Stock Trading course I and II in February
- Start trading 20 trades per month if possible. But don't trade when there's no good trade
- Keep track on the trading tool excel sheet
While I've recently made my inaugural trade, reaching 200 successful trades feels like a lofty ambition. My progress has been slower than anticipated due to a shift in focus toward investing rather than trading during the initial months. Additionally, I've only completed Adam Khoo's Stock Trading Course I thus far, prompting the need for some adjustments to this goal.
Goal 5: Become a pro Photoshop user
- Search on YouTube for 3 skills on Photoshop every week
- Practice them on different pictures, and save the comparison pics in a folder
- Review the 12 skills at the end of each month
While I diligently scoured YouTube for Photoshop tutorials, my progress in mastering the software was a bit inconsistent. Despite the slow pace, I remained committed to this journey.
Goal 6: Edit 30 videos successfully
- List out the genres of videos I want to edit in the motive to learn a specific skills
- Take out 10 hours a week to edit videos (during the break)
- Learn about copyright issues and methods to avoid them
- Upload them on YouTube for documentation purpose
I've hit a roadblock with this goal. Currently, I'm only halfway through editing my first video compilation, so progress has been much slower than anticipated.
Goal 7: Lose 5 kg of weight through exercise and healthy diet
- Craft a list of exercises to do following hybridcalisthenics
- Block out 30 minutes everyday to exercise
- Take a picture of food I eat everyday, and review on them every week
- Review on what I can do better to reduce calories while make it less scary to practice and procrastinate
While I made strides in sticking to my exercise and healthy eating plan, I've come to a realization: aiming to lose 5 kg might not be feasible for me. With my focus on building muscle, it seems I'm headed in the opposite direction of weight loss.
Goal 8: Read 50 books
- Choose 5 books at the start of every month to read
- Block out 10 hours to read every week
- Find the most interesting book to be blogged
- Publish 1 book review blog every month
As of today, this goal stands out as the most successful among all. I've finished 10 books and published 4 book review blogs.
Goal 9: Publish 100 blogs or articles on this website
As of today's date, my progress stands at:
- 4 out of 11 blogs on book reviews
- 3 out of 10 blogs on (pre)university experiences
- 1 out of 5 blogs on internship experiences
- 0 out of 5 blogs on high school experiences
- 8 out of 40 blogs on my interests
- 3 out of 29 blogs on random topics
- 9 blogs on weekly updates
That puts me at a 19% completion rate for my blogging goal.
Goal 10: Able to perform 20 new yoyo tricks, and document them
- Practice 1 new yoyo trick every 2 weeks
- Record my progress every day
As of now, I've successfully learned 2 new yoyo tricks. However, I've encountered some technical difficulties preventing me from recording my progress.
Goal 11: Complete all CFAB self-study
- Finish study Accounting in February
- Finish study Assurance in March
- Finish study Business, Technology and Finance in April
- Finish study Law in May
- Finish study Management Information in June
- Finish study Principles of Taxation in July
I've successfully achieved my goals for February and March, marking the completion of self-study in both Accounting and Assurance.

- Read 5 books each on Philosophy and Psychology
- Craft a minimum of 2 articles per topic

- Research and explore classical music compositions

*newly added goal
