My biweekly journal: 24 Nov - 7 Dec
It's hard to believe that I haven't written in my journal for nearly two months. While I could come up with countless reasons for this lapse, let's set that aside and dive into what has happened over the past two weeks.
Notable events
- School work consolidation
The past three weeks have been a whirlwind of final project deadlines and exams. Fortunately, I only had two final exams this semester, and now that they are done, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief! With the semester behind me, I am officially free for the next five weeks of school vacation.
During this break, I plan to take some time to reflect on the five modules I completed this term. I will be consolidating everything I learned and sharing my insights through individual posts for each module.
- Submission for Final Assessments
The past few weeks have been full of research and writing for final projects, and none of them were what I initially expected from my Accountancy degree. The business proposal project has helped me improve my communication and persuasion skills, while the economics report has allowed me to explain real-world economic news and research through the concepts I have learned. The Big Question essay provided a deep dive into analyzing and consolidating different perspectives on Happiness and Suffering. Although it was tiring, I was satisfied with the final product I submitted.
- Final Exams
The exams came after submitting the projects, and I found them to be more nostalgic compared to working on projects. Preparing for and studying for exams feels easier because it’s about understanding and consolidating what I’ve already learned, rather than creating something new. While it may be less creative, it brings a sense of security since answers are typically clear-cut, especially in subjects like Economics & Society and Financial Accounting. I wrapped up the exams on a positive note and now I am anxiously waiting for the results to be announced in the coming weeks... 😩
- Kendo Winter Training Camp
With the exam season finally over, the Kendo Club hosted its 3-day annual Winter Training Camp, designed to foster teamwork within the club and give juniors their first experience wearing the full bogu set. The extra 2 to 4 kilograms of weight made executing cuts and footwork noticeably more challenging. Although the camp left me with a fair share of blisters and bruises, it was a rewarding practice session alongside seniors and members from other dojos. I feel grateful to be learning Kendo with such patient and supportive seniors and instructors, and I look forward to the upcoming training sessions. 😄
