My biweekly journal: 29 Sep - 12 Oct

After a round of mid-term assessments, it was time for results and recess week. The week flew by quickly, filled with meetings for project work and pre-arranged plans with friends. It was undoubtedly a busy time, but I still managed to catch up with some friends along the way.

Notable events

  1. School work consolidation

With the start of recess week, school may have paused, but it felt more intense with all the work lined up. Besides revising for upcoming midterms, I also had to edit two videos for school projects. It had been a while since I last edited, and while it was satisfying to explore new editing techniques and polish the final product, cramming everything into one week was exhausting.

  1. FACT Annual General Meeting

The FACT Annual General Meeting (AGM) kicked off my first official CCA event, and I was a bit excited to meet others equally interested in an audit career. After hearing from the Excos about the timeline and upcoming events, we moved into bonding activities. Although I tend to be more reserved, I found myself getting involved, and it was great to connect with new people.

  1. Italian Video Project

Despite the title "A Trip in Italy," we’re actually filming it right here in Singapore. With no other option, we’ve relied on a green screen and borrowed some vlog content from YouTube for this project. Filming and editing have been fun, but with the video editing workload falling on me, it’s also been exhausting. I had my first “camp-out” in the school library just to wrap up the edits, squeezed in between other pre-arranged commitments.

  1. USS Halloween Horror Night

My first Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios was definitely an interesting experience, and I’m glad I went with a group of friends. Honestly, the haunted house walk-throughs weren’t as scary as I’d expected—mostly because the place was packed. Sure, there were plenty of jump scares, but I spent most of the time just trying to figure out where the “ghosts” were popping out from amid all the high-pitched screams around us. If you’re really looking for a good scare, though, I’d recommend playing a horror game or watching someone else play, as the visuals and sound effects are way more intense.

  1. Mid-semester check for Inspirar

The mid-semester check was an enjoyable experience, especially the bonding session with my teammates. We played the Story Mode of Gartic Phone, and the stories took some unexpected and hilarious turns. Admittedly, our group was the loudest in the room, but it was worth it for the camaraderie. We also took time to reflect on past sessions and wrapped up the day with additional training from an external organization to prepare for what’s ahead. It was a great mix of fun and productivity, making for a memorable university moment.

Top 3 outcomes for the upcoming two weeks

'If the week ahead is going to be a great week, what would be the top 3 things I'd accomplish?'

  1. Complete my WR Assessment 3 draft
  2. Revise and study for Italian oral test
  3. Write my quarter consolidation blog

Top 3 outcomes from previous week

  1. ❌Write the two separate blogs on a consolidation of the workshops I have joined
  2. ✅Work on my school projects (at least 80% of work)
  3. ❌Write my quarter consolidation blog

I overestimated my abilities in completing the school projects and attending other commitments with my friends. 😩
