My Productive and Informative YouTube List
Nowadays, the consumption of YouTube content is massive, with nearly everyone within my social network being active viewers. Acknowledging my tendency to dedicate excessive time to these videos, I recognize that the majority may be perceived as a misuse of valuable time, watching meaningless manga or comedic videos. However, it is essential to note that a subset of these videos serves as motivational and skill-enhancing resources.
To optimize this platform for knowledge acquisition, I have curated a list of YouTube channels. This compilation not only aims to facilitate knowledge-sharing but also serves as a personal reminder to channel my attention toward content that aligns with my goals during moments of leisure.
Top 3 Productivity Channels
That I watch on daily basis
- Ali Abdaal
If you know him, you'll know him. A distinguished individual holding a medical degree from Cambridge University, a former doctor, and presently, a thriving YouTuber, entrepreneur, and author.
I discovered his channel out of accident, and a single video was sufficient to captivate my admiration. He was my inspiration to start this personal website side hustle. The manner in which he presents himself and advocates for productivity within his audience serves as a wellspring of inspiration, positioning him as my primary role model in this quest for heightened productivity.
As I write this blog, I find myself concurrently listening to his YouTube video providing insights on how to distinguish oneself in resume writing (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqXjqOy-TA8). His voice functions as a pleasant background accompaniment, serving as a subtle reminder to maintain productivity.
- Escaping Ordinary (B.C Marx)
One month ago, I stumbled upon this awesome channel, and it's been a game-changer. They take these thick, wordy informative books and turn them into these bite-sized, 30-minute video gems of captivating animations and graphics. It's like getting the essence of an 8-hour read without straining your eyes for hours. Sure, reading gives you the nitty-gritty details and might stick better, but come on, who wouldn't want to kick back, sip some tea, and soak in productivity wisdom through cool videos? I know I do :)
- Rian Doris
This is my first encounter with the term 'Flow state'. I couldn't help but notice its uncanny resemblance to the Chinese term “精气” interpreted as spirit by Google. Rian Doris serves as the guide, unveiling the keys to unlock the flow state, thereby mastering the art of focus and productivity. Backed by compelling statistics and graphs, he emerges as a beacon of inspiration, urging us to enhance our daily productivity. And the first tip I learnt from him is to work at the very first minute of waking up, instead of following a long-winded morning routine. And it works.
Top 5 Informative Channels
That I also watch on daily basis
- 老高与小茉
If you know Chinese, this is the most entertaining and knowledgeable channel to watch at all times. Every Wednesday, from 9pm to 10 pm, a new video will be posted. You can expect philosophical questions delving into 'Why are we Humans?'; immerse yourself in the wonders of extraterrestrial species living on Earth with us; and listen to him talk about the mythology of Atlantis, Greek, Japanese, and Chinese. Wonders, imaginations, superficial; all revolve in this channel.
- Oversimplified
If you enjoy easy-to-digest, fun history content with cool graphics and jokes, then this is the channel for you! Despite the top-notch content, updates on the videos are a bit slow. The latest video, 'Second Punic War,' is just as funny as ever. I even went back and rewatched some of the older videos on the 'American Civil War' and 'WWII.' Good times!
- Nile Red
Organic chemistry, the subject that I used to dislike in exams, has turned into one of my favorite topics. This guy experiments with all sorts of stuff, like turning paint thinner into cherry soda or creating his own purple gold ring. The science behind his experiments doesn't seem that complicated, yet the amount of research invested in those is a crazy exploration for knowledge with massive trials and errors.
- 3Blue1Brown
I still don't fancy math, not even today. In my last year of high school, I didn't snag that A+ in my calculus module final because sometimes, I just couldn't grasp the underlying concepts. Basic calculus was okay, but the more I delved into it, the more it became a confusing and fuzzy realm. However, this channel turned out to be a tad different. It's still math, but less about numbers and more about exploring the possibilities within math. Tuning in made me feel a bit more brainy, although I might not actually be one. Yet, the channel explains how math concepts can be used to solve real-life problems, and it's definitely worth a watch.
- shuaisoserious
Meet the muscle man – that's the first impression one might get upon encountering this channel. And sure, he's a bona fide muscle man, but there's more to him than meets the eye. If you happen to be well-versed in Chinese and are in search of motivation for your gym sessions or just aiming to lead a healthier life, he serves as an excellent online coach to glean insights from. He embodies the essence of a man who seamlessly blends brawn with brains, making him an admirable role model to emulate.
Stay tuned for more productivity
