My weekly journal: 19 May - 1 June
The past 2 weeks have been relatively unproductive in terms of studies as well, however I did manage to have some other activities and video editing projects going on.
Notable events
- Had a fruitful visit @ Sunway Lagoon and Sunway Pyramid
I had a fun Saturday at Sunway Lagoon, even though we only got to enjoy a few attractions like the bird show, animal sightseeing, the Topsy-Turvy ride, the long suspension bridge, and the flying fox. My sister and I got tired and left to quench our thirst at Sunway Pyramid. It wasn't a total waste of a ticket since we have annual passes. However, we were disappointed about missing the roller coaster ride.
Afterwards, we indulged in some desserts and spontaneously decided to go for a BBQ buffet at Rocku Yakiniku, which I highly recommend for meat lovers and fans of the Anison atmosphere. I also discovered the perfect shape and color for my next pair of spectacles, which I'll consider buying when I need a change.
- Assisting with my sister's hair dyeing for the second time
This marked my second endeavor of coloring her hair, and I must admit, it proved to be quite a taxing process. I put in a concerted effort to ensure every strand of hair was drenched in the dye, but the outcome wasn't as homogeneous as I had hoped. Distinct patches of the old color seemed to peek through and portions of bleached hair still remained uncolored. However, when I compare this to my first attempt, there's no denying there has been a substantial improvement. With more dye at our disposal, I certainly believe that our results can only get better.
- Finished writing Part I of The Apothecary Diaries blog
After delaying the creation of my anime blog for several months, I have at last wrapped up the summary of the initial 12 episodes of "The Apothecary Diaries." Surprisingly, the most frustrating aspect wasn't the writing itself but rather the video uploading phase. Given that the current Ghost website version I'm using caps video uploads at a mere 5 MB, I found myself navigating the alternative route of uploading to YouTube. Regrettably, my video encountered a copyright snag, prompting a time-consuming edit and re-rendering ordeal. Despite these hurdles, the whole endeavor of crafting content for YouTube turned out to be an intriguing learning curve.
- Completed studying up to Chapter 9 in Business, Technology, and Finance
Despite battling with the slowdown of productivity due to procrastination, I managed to traverse through three chapters of the subject that delves deeply into Business, Technology, and Finance. While this subject takes a complex and technical turn, deep-rooted memorization isn't a prerequisite. Instead, it urges for one to be well-acquainted and intuitive. As such, I took a detour from my usual study method of verbally instilling each sentence into my memory. Now, I merely skim through lengthy texts which is significantly more time-efficient. However, it is noteworthy that I am currently lagging in terms of progress. And I am well aware of the pressing need to pick up the pace and regain momentum before it's too late.
- Continued with the writing of book review blog
Crafting a book review blog for a lengthy self-help book can be somewhat daunting, and quite frankly, a bit dull. This can result in bouts of start-stop progress, which is precisely the case with this particular book review. But fear not! I am determined to power through the remainder of this project within the ensuing week — it's high time we dust this one off the shelf.
Top 3 outcomes for the upcoming week
'If the week ahead is going to be a great week, what would be the top 3 things I'd accomplish?'
