My weekly journal: 21 July - 27 July

Brief outline of what happened from 7 till 20 July

Nothing much happened during this period as I was slacking while waiting for my return to Singapore. Knowing that the following months in university would be hectic involuntarily, I submitted myself to unproductive procrastination by rewatching some anime series and YouTube videos. 😖

Notable events

  1. Return to Singapore on the midnight of 22nd July

21st of July marked my last day in Malaysia as I went back to Singapore for upcoming university study. Reaching at 3:30 am at Singapore customs via a nighttime bus was a shock due to its extreme speed. After having a nap in my rented room, I went cycling to campus as a quick view of the route as I intended to cycle to campus in the future. It was definitely a bad idea to cycle under the scorching sun on an unfamiliar path, drenched in sweat when I was rushing to collect my luggage from my mom's side. After fitting in every item nicely in the room, night had set in, and I took my break of the day.

  1. Setting up my room

I bought a set of tables and chairs from Carousel (a second-hand website) via delivery of Lalamove, and it wasn't a nice experience as the important part of the assembly - screws, went missing during the delivery. The good news is that I succeeded in assembling it using purchased screws and masking tape 😌

  1. Academic briefing at SMU

The BAcc academic briefing consisted of a short introduction of the SoA (School of Accountancy) curriculum, the eLearn platform, other administrative offices, and the accounting-related societies. It was a concise and fresh review of what to expect when the school term starts, and it also sparked my interest in joining the SMU FACT (Financial Advisory and Compliance Team) to boost my audit experiences and skills.

  1. Joining ASoc Camp (25th - 27th July)

ASoc (SMU Accounting Society) Camp marked my first orientation at SMU, and it was a blast meeting new people with good vibes. Thank you to my amazing facilitators and other freshmen in my group, and I hope we will stay in contact as the school year progresses.
