My weekly journal: 23 June - 29 June

I haven't updated my weekly journal in a while, so in this post, I'll briefly recap what I did over the past few weeks and share the highlights of this week.

Brief outline of what happened from 9 till 22 June

9 to 15 June: Taiwan Trip

The one-week trip to Taiwan was both fruitful and enjoyable, despite getting sick on the fourth day. There was delicious food and peaceful scenery, though I couldn't eat much towards the end of my trip. The weather was hot since it was summer. Honestly, I wonder if the 'tourist effect' made everything seem better, as I found myself appreciating even the smallest details 🤔

16 to 22 June: Recovering from Sickness

The flu, phlegm, and fever turned out to be much worse than I expected. This was my first serious illness of 2024, and I ended up sleeping a lot, feeling no motivation to do anything else. Oddly enough, the fever, or maybe the trip, changed my taste for food and my motivation for the following week. It was a weird experience overall.

Notable events

23 June - 29 June

  1. Speed sketching

I finished my online lessons on sketching and have been practicing with real-life and anime characters. It was a time-consuming but enjoyable process to recreate cool poses, and I plan to do more sketching in the future.

  1. Watercolour painting

I dug out my watercolor set and painted several landscape sceneries. Personally, I find painting more troublesome than digital drawing because I constantly need to clean my brushes and wait for the watercolor to dry before applying the next layer. However, I can't deny that I enjoy the relaxing coloring process.

  1. Finished studying Business, Technology, and Finance — now moving on to Law

I finally wrapped up my long-procrastinated studies on BTF this week, and I'm excited to dive into my next subject, Law. Although I'm behind my planned schedule, I hope to finish studying Law by mid to late July.

  1. Added New Positions on Lululemon (LULU) and Nvidia (NVDA) to My Portfolio

I bought LULU at $300, roughly a 40% drop from its highest price. I believe LULU is a solid investment, and the discount from its intrinsic value is too attractive to pass up. For NVDA, I added to my position at $124, taking advantage of its current dip. While I'm anticipating a further retracement, predicting the market is impossible. I plan to add more if the price drops further.

  1. Finding Alternative Housing for University

After being denied admission to the SMU hostel Prinsep Street Residences (PSR), I needed to find another place to stay during my university studies. It was a frantic and anxious process of online searches and filtering through rental options. A big thanks to my mom for helping me with this process.

Top 3 outcomes for the upcoming week

'If the week ahead is going to be a great week, what would be the top 3 things I'd accomplish?'

  1. Study till Chapter 6 of Law
  2. Practice 2 set of speed sketching
  3. Write and upload my Quarter review blog

Stay tuned for next week updates
