My weekly journal: 30 June - 6 July
This week has been relatively more productive compared to the previous one. While it lacked a structured timeline, mentally, it felt satisfying.
Notable events
- One Day Trip Back to Singapore for a Medical Check-Up
I recently took a one-day trip back to Singapore for a medical check-up required for university matriculation. Not wanting to stay overnight, I decided to pack everything into a single day. Besides the check-up, I visited the rented room where I'll be staying during university, and then headed to the library to relax before catching my bus back to Malaysia. It was a busy day, and I couldn't help but notice how much more walking is involved in daily life in Singapore compared to Malaysia.
- Studied Law till Chapter 3
The Law study manual wasn't as thick as BTF, and the nuances in phrasing made understanding a little more interesting. Overall, it's a great start but the questions were sometimes confusing due to words use and it also requires memorization on foreign definitions.
- Watercolour painting
The color mixing process this week didn't go as smoothly as last week. I'm starting to feel anxious because the white paint is running out faster than the others. Despite this, I am excited to test my new set of brushes, which offers more variety than my previous set. I plan to experiment with different brushing techniques for my future paintings.
- Reading and listening to new audiobooks
'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett is a book about black maids' interactions with white people in the 1960s era in America. I knew the book after watching its movie, and seeing all the comments stating about how things were adapted from the book, I became interested about the original book and decided to give it a read.
'How to Win Friends & Influence People' by Dale Carnegie is another book about valuable skills and advices on ways of approaching people during different situations and overall teaches people on how to make people like them. I reckon this as a book to revisit now and then, and practiced them until ingrained as our habits.
- Watched a couple of movies
Despicable Me 4 provided a lot of laughs with minions and Gru's family at the cinema over the weekend, while Hidden Figures and The Help stood out as classic films from the early 2010s.
- Have a new look
As my hair was getting thicker, my sister and I decided it was time for a trim at the hair salon. While there, I also picked up some new styling techniques for my updated haircut. With university life on the horizon, I wanted a more mature look, so we visited an optical shop for a new pair of glasses with thinner frames. Luckily, they were having promotions, making the purchase even better.
