My weekly journal: 5 May - 18 May

My weekly journal: 5 May - 18 May

These past two weeks were mostly filled with entertainment as I browsed through novels and binge-watched anime series. Consequently, there wasn't much focus on productivity or studying. However, I decided to compile those activities into a list below.

Notable events

  1. Listen to Ado's songs and watch fan-made videos on YouTube and Bilibili

During these past two weeks, I found myself diving deep into Ado's old song covers and fan-made subtitle videos of her appearances on All Night Nippon and other interviews. I spent a significant amount of time watching these, eager to learn more about the character of such a talented singer.

  1. Enjoy anime, mainly on "Attack On Titan" and "Bocchi The Rock!"
Attack On Titan and Bocchi The Rock

Watching Attack On Titan from episode 1 was a spontaneous decision, and yet I reached the last episode of the final season in less than a week. Although I wasn't entirely satisfied with the plot development, the animation of the Titans fighting was epic and drew me to binge-watch the series. To balance out the intense and violent scenes of AOT, I also watched 'Bocchi The Rock!', a comedy music show filled with cute and funny scenes.

  1. Read reincarnation novels based on "Attack On Titan"

After watching the anime series Attack On Titan, I found myself wondering if, in a parallel world, the ending could involve achieving peace between the Eldians and the rest of the world instead of initiating the rumbling. This curiosity led me to search for fan-written novels, and I was pleasantly surprised by the new plot developments some writers imagined. I enjoyed one such story so much that I finished reading it in just a few days.

  1. Watch "Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle" at the cinema

As a big fan of the anime series 'Haikyuu!', I had been eagerly anticipating this movie since it was announced in February. Finally, it was released in GSC cinema in Malaysia. The most memorable scenes were Hinata's long ecstatic shout and Kuroo's laughs after Kenma finally admitted that volleyball is fun.

  1. Listening to audiobooks

I finished listening to 'Conversations With God Book One' by Neale Donald Walsch. It was an inspirational read, full of 'God's wisdom'. One idea that resonated with me was the concept of showing gratitude and thanks to bring about reality, rather than just praying for something to happen. This aligns well with 'The Power of Your Subconscious Mind' by Joseph Murphy, a book I previously read. Now, I've started listening to a new fiction book, 'Moskva' by Jon Courtenay Grimwood.

  1. Learning J-pop songs lyrics
Ado - Mr Schadenfreude & Snow Song Show cover

As I mentioned in above about streaming Ado's songs, I decided to learn how to sing them. I didn't want to just hum the melodies; I wanted to sing the lyrics too. Even though I don't understand Japanese without the English translation, I was satisfied to learn the lyrics using the 0.75x speed method, especially during the fast melodies and rhythmic changes.

  1. Discover new addictive games

The power of advertisement led me to download two new games, 'Pizza Ready' and 'My Sushi Story'. I was instantly hooked on 'Pizza Ready' for a few days, drawn in by the endless virtual money and revenue generation. It felt like I was a business owner, easily earning money with just a few taps. This game is undeniably addictive, but I quickly got bored with its repetitive gameplay after three days. 'My Sushi Story' was also repetitive, but I enjoyed the mini-games and aimed to stop playing after obtaining the rotary sushi section. Overall, playing these games was a waste of productive time, yet I still fell for them. This experience highlights my lack of self-control and just how dopamine-inducing these games can be.
