My weekly journal: 7 Apr - 20 Apr

In this post, I'm recapping the highlights of the past two weeks since I couldn't find the time or chance to jot down my daily updates. Blame it on a mix of procrastination and not having access to my laptop. But fear not! I'm not letting these two weeks slip away unnoticed. Let's dive into the memorable moments of the past fortnight.

Major events

  1. Passport Renewal and a Trip Back To Penang

Renewing my passport turned out to be quite the challenge, and while spending the week with my family in Penang, personal time and exploration took a back seat. Despite the passport ordeal, I indulged in some nostalgic hometown cuisine, played badminton with my dad, and discovered new anime during our trip.

  1. Finish Chapter 2 of Business, Technology and Finance

Progress in studying this subject was slower than expected due to bouts of procrastination. This serves as a reminder to stay on track and complete reading on this topic within the next 10 days. 📓

  1. Accepted university and scholarship offer @ SMU School of Accountancy (SoA)

Unfortunately, due to some email spam issues, I only stumbled upon the scholarship offer last week, even though it was sent back in February. Quite the oversight on my part, but luckily, I still have plenty of time before the deadline. With a swift response, I'm now just one step away from securing the scholarship offer.

  1. Purchased plane tickets and booked accommodations for our upcoming trip to Taiwan

After sorting out our passport renewals, my sister and I finally managed to nail down the details for our Taiwan trip. It was quite the adventure, with us frantically trying to buy tickets at 1 am while adjusting our online banking limits. The most frustrating moment came when, on our second attempt, the website suddenly hiked up the prices. We ended up switching computers to continue the booking process.

  1. Experimented with my new vlog action camera

I had a blast trying out my recently acquired vlog camera. Testing out the various accessories was quite intriguing. I captured some footage of my cardistry and yoyo skills, although I wasn't thrilled with the audio quality in my initial attempts. Nonetheless, I'm determined to use it regularly to document my progress.

  1. Dabbled in drawing animation with FlipaClip

While browsing through YouTube, I stumbled upon some animation videos. As a means of procrastination from my studies, I decided to download the FlipaClip app on my phone. Surprisingly, I found that the S Pen was more than adequate for creating animations. Although my initial attempts lacked artistic finesse, I thoroughly enjoyed the process.

  1. Listening to audiobooks

During the past two weeks, I didn't allocate as much time to listening to audiobooks as I had hoped. However, I did manage to complete 'Thinking, Fast and Slow' by Daniel Kahneman. Currently, I've embarked on a new journey with 'Ocean Country' by Liz Cunningham.

  1. Investment Portfolio

I took the opportunity to buy UNH stock when it hit its lowest point. Looking ahead, I anticipate a decline in the prices of technology stocks such as META, NVDA, MSFT, and others, likely due to sector rotation.

  1. Exploring Anki for Japanese Learning

Recently, I stumbled upon Anki, a powerful tool for language learning, through the YouTube channel of Jouzu Juls (上手 ジューズ). I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of resources available for learning Japanese developed by others in the community.
