Summary of the week
More like a daily journal
Sunday - 21 Jan
Spent the day working part-time in F&B. The physical aspect was tiring, but mentally it was undemanding, requiring little brainpower.
πRating of productiveness: -/5π
Difficult to rate the day in terms of productivity, as it wasn't a deliberate effort.
πRating of happiness: 2/5 π
Despite fatigue, I am content about earning extra income.
Monday - 22 Jan
I woke up at 10 am and engaged in leisure activities, playing Genshin Impact until 11 am. I inadvertently deviated from my intended schedule for learning Photoshop during this period. Nevertheless, I successfully accomplished tasks related to my internship, with a predominant emphasis on video editing. Subsequently, I participated in a beach outing with my acquaintances, which contributed to a positive and enjoyable atmosphere. Following the outing, I returned home, took a moment to rest, and dedicated time to watch a comprehensive analysis on Monster Beverage within the UIP framework. Despite not adhering strictly to my planned schedule, the day was overall satisfactory.
πRating of productiveness: 3/5π
I engaged in tasks related to my internship, although progress in the video editing segment was limited. It is anticipated that an additional day will be required to complete the editing process. Apart from this aspect, the afternoon can be considered relatively productive.
πRating of happiness: 5/5π
I engaged in a social gathering with my friends after a few weeks. The beach outing was genuinely enjoyable and marked a return to a fun recreational activity that I had not experienced for months. I express sincere gratitude for the positive experiences during this outing, and the memories captured in the photos will be cherished.
Tuesday - 23 Jan
Today did not unfold as optimally as I would have preferred. I concluded the composition of my blog on 'Cardistry #1' (https://www.ooijianhui.com/cardistry-1/) around 2 pm. Prior to that, my activities involved partaking in lunch and subsequently regretting the excessive intake, leading to considerable discomfort. Following this, I allocated an hour to commute to the S.E.A Focus at Tanjong Pagar District. Despite expressing dissatisfaction with the protracted commuting duration, the outing proved to be intriguing. While the initial exhibition featuring Simryn Gill & Charles Lim Yi Yong: The Sea is a Field left me somewhat disappointed, the subsequent presentation by Ho Tzu Nyen: Time & The Tiger offered a more gratifying experience. Regrettably, I couldn't peruse the entire gallery due to time constraints necessitated by my weekly internship meeting. Nonetheless, the visual encounter was overall enriching.
Following my meeting, I dedicated time to tasks related to my internship and engaged in studying the Japanese language, although the duration fell short of my intended 2-hour learning session. Regrettably, I couldn't allocate time to watch AK's UIP stocks deep dive, but I aim to compensate for this lapse tomorrow.
πRating of productiveness: 3.5/5π
Though my morning lacked significant productivity, I successfully finalized a blog, attended an S.E.A Focus event, engaged in my weekly meeting, and dedicated time to studying Japanese. In sum, the overall productivity of the day can be described as satisfactory.
πRating of happiness: 1.6/5π
The weekly meeting constituted a disheartening culmination of candid reflections on my internship experience and the prevailing sense of discontentment perceived from my supervisor. This underscores the significance of fortuitously aligning with a supervisor whose temperament complements one's own. In my prospective professional journey, I aspire to encounter a superior with congruent vibes and perspectives. ππ
Wednesday - 24 Jan
Today marked an unexpected turn of events as I received communication via email and WhatsApp concerning my admission to the SMU School of Accountancy. The revelation of a direct admission into SoA and the subsequent notification of an impending scholarship interview, scheduled for this Friday (26 Jan), added a layer of intrigue to my academic journey. The uniqueness of this experience lies in the absence of insights from senior peers who could provide guidance, given that none of them had applied to SMU. Despite this, I found myself engrossed in completing a game-based assessment included in the email and conducting research on effective strategies for the upcoming scholarship interview. Despite these interruptions, I successfully managed to fulfill my internship responsibilities and fulfill my commitments during my work shift. Undoubtedly, it was a day filled with unforeseen and captivating developments, and I eagerly anticipate the Discovery Day at SMU scheduled for this Saturday (27 Jan).
πRating of productiveness: 3.2/5π
I deviated from my intended plan of dedicating time to learning Photoshop and staying informed about the stock market. However, I successfully completed certain tasks related to my internship and fulfilled my work commitments for the F&B shift. I refrain from assigning a lower rating to the day, considering that the disruption primarily resulted from unexpected developments in the SMU admission process. ββ
πRating of happiness: 3.9/5π
The day was physically demanding, yet my thoughts are characterized by a sense of restlessness and anticipation for the forthcoming interview with the School of Accountancy (SoA). I am content with the recognition of my eligibility for the direct admission pathway.
Thursday - 25 Jan
I initially woke up at 9 am but opted to return to sleep until 11 am, a decision I later recognized as less than optimal, given my prior night's late sleep at 3 am. Despite this, I successfully completed the video editing task for my internship. While I have a backlog of pending work, my attention has been predominantly directed towards preparing for an impending scholarship interview scheduled for tomorrow. I have dedicated time to consult resources such as https://digitalsenior.sg/smu-interview-guide/, formulate responses, and engage in self-directed mock interviews, all with the aim of ensuring a favorable outcome in tomorrow's interview. π
πRating of productiveness: 3.4/5π
Given that I slept until 11 am, the completion of my video editing and preparation for the scholarship interview stands as a notable achievement for the day.
πRating of happiness: 2.9/5π
I am currently dealing with heightened anxiety in anticipation of an upcoming interview, and as a result, finding it challenging to experience a sense of joy in the present moment.
Friday - 26 Jan
I commenced the day at 9:30 am and proceeded to the post office for the retrieval of my identity card. Subsequently, I engaged in video editing activities pertinent to my internship responsibilities and undertook preparations for an impending scholarship interview. The interview transpired seamlessly, marked by a 15-minute discourse predominantly led by myself. Following the interview, I concluded the composition of an article detailing my university applications. Preceding dinner, I dedicated time to the acquisition of three new cardistry tricks at a beginner level. Later, I resumed my internship obligations by attending to the creation of daily social media posts.
πRating of productiveness: 4.4/5π
I demonstrated productivity in relation to my internship, interview preparation, acquisition of new cardistry techniques, and the maintenance of my personal website. Despite falling short of engaging in book reading or studying Adam Khoo's course, the day proved to be fulfilling.
πRating of happiness: 3.9/5π
The interview surpassed my initial expectations, and I find satisfaction in the positive reception of my achievements by the professors. While confidence remains a challenge for me, I am optimistic about the outcome.
Saturday - 27 Jan
I commenced my day by waking up at 9:30 am and subsequently had lunch with my mother at the local market. Regrettably, I consumed an excessive amount of food, leading to a sensation of nausea. Following this, I participated in Singapore Management University's (SMU) Discovery Day from 2-5 pm. My sentiments toward the event were marked by disappointment, as I found that the presented information either duplicated my existing knowledge or lacked relevance to my considerations for university admission. Later in the day, I proceeded to my evening work shift, concluding my activities at midnight upon reaching home.
πRating of productiveness: 2.8/5π
I did not attain any of my predefined objectives as a consequence of the disruption caused by SMU's Discovery Day. Furthermore, the event did not yield significant or valuable information for me. In addition to this, I allocated my evening to a work shift, an endeavor that I would not categorize as particularly productive.
πRating of happiness: 3/5π
The disappointment stemming from the Discovery Day persisted throughout the entirety of the day, and I found it to be a source of dissatisfaction. Nevertheless, I derived satisfaction from my work shift at Botanico later in the day.
