Summary of the week
More like a daily journal
Sunday - 24 Mar
After rising at 8 am, I kicked off the day with a workout session followed by a delightful breakfast of Dimsum. Then, I indulged in a cozy bed session, binge-watching Crash Course videos on Philosophy to beat the heat. Later, I joined my dad for a grocery run, and over lunch, we enjoyed the new 2024 movie, Road House. Post-lunch activities included unpacking groceries, tackling laundry, and treating ourselves to some McDonald's for dinner. During this time, I wrapped up the audiobook "Radical Joy for Hard Times" by Trebbe Johnson and dove into a new read, "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman.
In the evening, I continued my exploration of Crash Course's Philosophy playlist, diving deeper into intriguing topics. Then, I was treated to mesmerizing performances by Hilary Hahn's performances on YouTube. Hilary's solo pieces were simply breathtaking! Wrapping up the night, I set aside a moment for reflection and gathered my thoughts before bidding the day farewell.
πRating of productiveness: 0.8/5π
Today's weather was scorchingly hot, putting a damper on productivity. Despite attempting to stimulate my mind with entertaining videos and an audiobook on philosophy, the relentless heat made it difficult to focus on anything productive.
πRating of happiness: 2.9/5 π
Despite the weather's mood swings, I managed to find joy in lounging around, indulging in philosophy ponderings, and losing myself in the mesmerizing melodies of Hilary Hahn's violin solos.
Monday - 25 Mar
After waking up at 8 am, I found myself battling a slight headache, likely due to staying up far too late the night before. After rustling up some breakfast, I treated myself to a bit of entertainment before hopping in the shower. Post-breakfast, I succumbed to a deep, intermittent nap, punctuated by brief YouTube binges, finally emerging from my slumber around 3 pm. Following a belated 'lunch', I delved into my accounting revisions, making it through Chapter 5 before taking a break for some yo-yo tricks, then wrapping up with dinner and a study session in Japanese starting at 8:30 pm. Later in the evening, I checked in on my investment portfolio and had a phone call with my mum before winding down for the night.
πRating of productiveness: 3.1/5π
In the morning, I wasn't exactly a productivity powerhouseβI ended up snoozing and indulging in entertainment for a good 8 hours. However, the latter half of my day was a different story. From 4 pm onwards, I dedicated my time to accounting revision, learning new yoyo trick, diving into Daniel Kahneman's audiobook "Thinking, Fast and Slow," tuning into the Crash Course Philosophy playlist, and lastly squeezing in a bit of Japanese learning.
πRating of happiness: 2.7/5π
My mind felt fuzzy, and a lingering headache put a damper on my mood for the day :<
Tuesday - 26 Mar
After waking up at 7:45 am, I slept in a few extra minutes before rustling up some breakfast. Later, I found myself lingering in bed, dabbling in unproductive activities of watching YouTube. It wasn't until I kicked off my pushups and core workout routine that I started to shake off the morning sluggishness. However, the allure of YouTube beckoned, and I spent a good chunk of time watching TwoSetViolin videos. It wasn't until after lunch that I mustered the motivation to tackle some Accounting revision, powering through chapters until I hit Chapter 8.
After that, I shifted gears to writing blogs, churning out content until around 8:30 am. Dinner and a refreshing shower followed suit, setting the stage for my late-night Japanese language session. Exploring various language-learning apps proved to be a fascinating endeavor, promising future blog fodder. And thus, my day came to a close.
πRating of productiveness: 2.5/5π
Throughout the day, I struggled with procrastination, particularly when it came to diving into my Accounting study materials. Yet, once I finally pushed through that initial resistance and started studying, I found myself effortlessly slipping into a state of flow. It's a valuable reminder that the key to productivity often lies in simply getting started and avoiding the temptation to return to bed during the day.
πRating of happiness: 2.3/5π
Today's progress left much to be desired, and I couldn't shake off the feeling of brain fuzz. It seems I may have spent a tad too much time mindlessly scrolling through my phone, getting lost in unnecessary online content.
Wednesday - 27 Mar
After rising at 7:35 am, I spent little time in preparing breakfast before diving into a refreshing swim session until 10 am. Following this, I indulged in some gaming before immersing myself in Japanese language lessons using the Japanese 2000 Anki decks. A brief nap ensued, and then it was a cozy lounge session in bed before lunch. The clock struck 3 pm, signaling the official start of my Accounting revision. Post-dinner activities included meal prep for tomorrow, a quick shower, and delving deeper into my Accounting revision up to Chapter 11. I also managed to squeeze in an update to my summary blog post covering Accounting up to Chapter 7. Amidst these tasks, I found time to catch up on Crash Course's Philosophy videos and delve into the audiobook "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman. Wrapping up the day's endeavors, I called it a night at 12:30 am.
πRating of productiveness: 1.8/5π
Today's productivity took a hit due to another lengthy nap session. Despite my determination to rise promptly after the alarm, I succumbed to sleep. Post-nap drowsiness compounded the issue, leaving me with little motivation to tackle tasks. However, the evening brought a slight uptick in productivity.
πRating of happiness: 3.9/5π
Excited to finally try out my new swimsuit, I kicked off the day with a refreshing swim. However, the rest of the day didn't quite live up to my expectations productivity-wise. An unexpectedly lengthy nap dampened my mood further.
Thursday & Friday - 28 & 29 Mar
Thursday and Friday shared a similar theme of low productivity and average happiness, prompting me to combine their highlights into one journal entry. The main focus during these two days was revising for Accounting and Assurance. I successfully published the blog summarizing my Accounting studies and began drafting the Assurance blog, aiming for publication by next week. Additionally, I dedicated time to practicing Japanese on Anki, indulged in Crash Course's Philosophy videos, and engaged in other routine activities from the past few days.
πRating of productiveness: 2.0/5π
Over the past couple of days, productivity took a bit of a dip, mainly due to two factors: the scorching heat and my struggle to resist the allure of YouTube and a new drama series.
πRating of happiness: 3.2/5π
While productivity may have been on the lower side, I found solace in indulging in a new drama series and diving into some manga. Yet, the struggle to refocus on revision or other productive tasks post-break left me feeling a tad frustrated.
